Using 90° header pins to provide solder points at the base of the board (keeping the vertical pins free for sensors) I had the thing roughly connected in less than 30 minutes. But then, a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across a project where someone had soldered a micro SD card adapter directly to the pins of a Pro Mini…What? I had at least half a dozen of those things lying around! Within minutes I was in the basement, waiting for the soldering iron to heat up and realizing that an onboard regulator meant that the RTC could also be connected directly to the board. I was in the midst of assembling a small army of TinyDuino based logging platforms, so the Pro Minis just sat on the shelf for a while, as hacked into the tiny light sensor boards to drive my 3v sensors. Well, how could I resist that? I put in my order and, in due time, the little red boxes arrived with the morning mail. To celebrate Arduino day this year, Sparkfun put their 3.3v Pro Minis on sale for $3.

In 2018 we published in Sensors: Cave Pearl Data Logger: A Flexible Arduino-Based Logging Platform for Long-Term Monitoring in Harsh Environments This paper describes how to optimize these loggers for long-term deployment and the PDF is free to download. In 2019 we updated the design to reduce the total build time to about 1 hour: We’ve also added support to the code for using the indicator LED as a light sensor, so you can start monitoring the environment right away : Contact me at GPS Logger Pro app is now available, it has some added features.I posted the $10 DIY Arduino data logger in July 2014, and there have been many updates to the way I assemble the basic three component logger since the early version described in 2014.

If it does not please let me know and I might be able to update the app so it does. The app should also be able to load and display GPX files from other GPS devices, such as Garmin Nuvi etc.

Windows 10, click the 'Download Maps' button to download the maps locally for your region for full offline use. If your GNSS device in your tablet or phone still works outside WiFi or cellular service the logging and mapping will continue. Load previous GPX files and replay them on the map in real time or accelerated speed. There are two different versions available depending on your operating system. If you know this to be true, please contact me and tell me how you did it. Update May 2017: I have received an unconfirmed report that it may work on a Surface Pro 4 with external USB GPS.

This is a Windows 10 thing, not the apps fault, sorry.) Even if the device is installed inside the laptop, if it is on a com port it does not work. (The tracking does not work with an external GPS connected by USB or com port. (Please don't give it a 1 star rating because of something limited by your hardware and nothing to do with the app :) If you don't have a GPS chip in your device then you can only view maps, you can't track your position. This app is designed to be used with the GPS/GNSS Geolocation device built into some newer tablets and Windows phones. Now works under lock screen or in the background! Saved GPX files can also be used with to help keep electronic logbook and track mobiles within a company. *Important: when running the GPS, if you need to log the data be sure to start saving the data right away, that way if the app or phone/tablet happens to crash you will still have almost all the data minus a minute or two. The files are saved in clear text XML format. Import/export placemarks to a local file or cloud storage file. Saved files can also be imported into Google Earth, Microsoft MapPoint or Streets and Trips and many other apps that read GPX files.ĭownload the app on your Windows 10 PC/tablet AND your phone. View the path in real time on the installed Microsoft Here map, log your trip and save it to a GPX file. Uses the built-in GPS/GNSS device in your Windows 10 tablet and/or phone to map and log your trips. Send me an email if you would like other translations. Currently supports Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian and Spanish.
